Walla Walla is famous for it’s wonderful sweetness and large size. Plants produce large yields of flattened globe shaped 2-3 pound golden skinned bulbs with sweet and crisp white flesh with exceptional mild and very sweet flavor, that is excellent raw, cooked, and frozen. Very cold hardy, they can be overwintered. Has some disease resistance. Long day type. Short keeper.
Sowing: Direct sow as soon as soil can be prepared in early spring or fall, 1/4-1/2 inch deep. Or start 6-8 weeks prior to transplanting out. Keep moist during germination.

Moisture: Average Soil: best crops in humis rich sands, light loams Light: Best in full sun; also does well in partial shade
Information: To grow large onions from seed plant in garden in full sun, fertile soil, where there is no standing water after heavy rain. Keep well weeded with shallow cultivation. Harvest when the onions have begun to develop skins and tops are falling over. Pull the onion and suncure at least one week.
