Has been a favorite beet since 1892 for it’s tenderness, sweetness, and excellent quality. Plants produce good yields of dark crimson red 2-4 inch globe shaped roots. Of exceptional quality, they add color and sweetness raw in salads, as well as delicious sweet flavor when cooked. Unbeatable canning and pickling variety. Plants yield very flavorful red stemmed green tops tinged maroon and they are a top bunching beet and delicious when cooked and full of nutrition. Resistant to downy mildew. Sowing: Direct sow in spring after danger of frost in full sun. Cover seeds with 1/2-1 inch soil. Keep soil moderately moist during germination. Can grow a spring and fall crop.

Information: Can succession sow at 3 week intervals. If there has been no rainfall in a week to 10 days, water thoroughly one inch of water. Beets that develop in dry weather may become woody and fibrous. Harvest by pulling entire plant.
