A beautiful heirloom variety with vibrant scarlet red 4 inch fluted flowers with elegant white throats that open at dawn and close at nights. Lovely heart shaped foliage on a vigorous vine makes a brilliant display. Fast growing strong, beautiful vine that quickly climbs arbors, trellises, and fences. Can even be grown in containers. Attractive to hummingbirds, butterflies, and bees. Plants bloom prolifically and continuously to frost. Easy to grow from seed. A vibrant addition to any landscape!
Sowing: Nick the tip of the seed coat or soak seed in warm water for 7-8 hours before planting. Direct sow seeds in spring after danger of frost through early summer 1/2 of an inch deep in well drained soil in full to partial sun. Firm soil over seeds. Keep soil evenly moist until germination. Or start indoors 4-5 weeks before last frost. Keep moist and warm. Provide strong light source. Transplant after danger of frost when night temperatures remain 50 degrees F. or above. Take care when transplanting being careful not to disturb roots.
