Alyssum saxtile.
Perennial.
A lovely ground cover variety that in spring becomes covered with a profusion of delicate scented yellow flowers that look wonderful tumbling over a rockery or mound. Excellent ground cover in addition to an accent plant. Beautiful on slopes, along edges, edges of rock terraces, in between stepping stones, for xeriscape, hanging baskets, and any where a ground cover is needed. Excellent at filling in gaps you have in your garden. Silver gray foliage makes this plant attractive in the garden both when in and out of flower. Easily grown in hot sunny areas and drought tolerant. A delicate and versatile addition to your garden.
Sowing: For best results direct sow seeds in early fall or early spring (March or September). Surface sow the seeds. If started indoors, stratify the seeds by mixing the seed with an equal amount of sand and keep it in the refrigerator for 4-6 weeks, then surface sow it 8 weeks before planting out. Keep the soil evenly moist and the temperature around 70 degrees F. After the last chance of frost, transplant the seedlings. Seeds can also be direct sown outdoors after statification.
